The Center for Theoretical Linguistics (Centre de Lingüística Teòrica), funded and consolidated research group by the Generalitat de Catalunya from 1993, aims to fully understand how natural languages are structured and how they are processed by human beings. The focus of research is grammatical theory in a broad sense of the term, and the core research lines of the group are phonology and morphology, syntax (including lexical syntax), and semantics, always from a theoretical perspective. As for the transversal research areas, the group also counts on the participation of specialists in biolinguistics, language acquisition and language pathologies. Our research activity basically revolves around the study of the universal properties of language and the identification of patterns of microvariation among the natural languages. |
