El Group of Studies on Immigration and Ethnic Minorities (GEDIME), created in 1989, is part of the UAB’s Department of Sociology. GEDIME has a long history of sociological studies on international migration dynamics, transnational practices in migratory contexts and social inclusion of ethnic minorities. Since 2005, it has been recognized as a consolidated research group by the Generalitat de Catalunya and, in the year 2009, it was one of the founding members of the Centre d’Estudis i Recerca de Migracions (CER-Migracions), currently an interdisciplinary and interuniversity research center (UAB-UB).
