Research Group Education and Work (GRET)

The Research Group Education and Work (GRET) , belonging to the Department of Sociology-UAB, was founded in 1987. It develops research projects in three main topics:

a) Youth transitions: research on training and labor pathways made by young people, in particular early school leavers or young people engaged in vocational training schemes.

b) Higher education studies: research on university students pathways, in access, drop out, learning and professional careers.

c) Education, work and social inequalities: research on training and labor market, changes in competences supply and demand, and the impact on equity and equality of opportunities.

GRET develops basic research and also applied research, in partnership with public bodies, social partners and educational community stakeholders, in order to improve the individual and collective social and educational opportunities. The analysis and assessment of public policy is a common background, particularly in the field of educational policy, for instance the fighting early school leavers programs, the promotion of vocational training or the higher education reforms.
