Institut d'Investigació en Ciencies de la Salut Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP)

The Institut Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP) is a CERCA centre, a public research centre devoted to the improvement of people’s health through the generation of scientific knowledge and its transfer. Recognised as an excellence centre by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, it conveys the research activity of the Germans Trias I Pujol hospital (HUGTP). IGTP is located at the Can Ruti Campus in Badalona, where it is strongly connected with the other research institutions composing the campus: Institut Català d’Oncologia (ICO), Institut de Recerca de la Sida IrsiCaixa, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Institut Guttmann, Institut de Recerca contra la Leucèmia Josep Carreras (IJC), Fundació Lluita contra la Sida (FLS), Institut de Medicina Predictiva i Personalitzada del Càncer (IMPPC), Banc de Sang i Teixits (BST) and Centre d’Estudis Epidemiològics sobre les Infeccions de Transmissió Sexual i Sida de Catalunya (CEEISCAT).

The research activity at IGTP covers 8 areas, producing around 500 publication per year on renowned scientific journals. The areas are: Behavioural sciences and drug abuse; Immunology and inflammation; Heart, vascular and respiratory diseases; Infectious diseases; Endocrine-metabolic, bone and renal diseases; Liver and digestive system; Cancer; Neurosciences. Moreover the institute has several technological facilities providing essential support to the researchers.
