At the confluence of the acquisition of second languages, translation and interpretation, literacy implies identifying, choosing and making a critical-strategic use of technological resources and generating the most appropriate ones for each linguistic combination and educational and/or professional situation, considering the digital medium or channel in which the communication takes place. From the perspective of mediation and translation, literacy takes the form of knowing how to choose, apply, and generate technological, linguistic, and cultural resources in accordance with the conditions of communication. Our scientific challenges revolve around the digital access and use of languages; identification of interlinguistic sociocultural communities through ICTs; gender perspective, generational bias and its identification with specific technologies; and the impact of technology on language acquisition and the learning, teaching and professional practice of translation and mediation.
